Where can I find some personal financial planning software? I just have simple needs.?

I'm just your average joe middle class income. I need some software that tells me what to invest in, how much to invest and checks to make sure my financial house is in order. Any recommendations?

I don't believe you'll find software that gives you investment advice, if you want to track your finances you can buy quicken or microsoft money, or use the free site for Mint:
http://www.mint.com/

You need to do your own research to determine your risk tolerance, etc, and at least list a set of savings goals you have. Whether it's short term savings, retirement, etc.

What happens after a car repossession?

The finance company requested that I send them proof of insurance and my last two pay stubs. and they said it will go in front of a review board. Do they call the insurance company to verify. This is all new…Please help.
My question is are insurance companies supposed to disclose insurance information to finance companies.

What will be the difference between buying a foreclosure vs. a low priced realtor listed home?

I am exploring housing options for the near future, looking to buy my first house and willing to fix it up in order to sell in 3-5 years. I would be living in the house as I fixed it up as well. Is there any differences in buying foreclosed or pre-foreclosed houses vs. buying a realtor-listed house that's for sale and making a low (but not too low) offer? Will it be worth my while to buy the listed house at a discount or should I go for a cheap foreclosure in order to get the best deal?

The difference between a foreclosure and a Realtor-listed home is that on a foreclosure, it goes to auction. There is a minimum bid, usually the total of what is owed to the lender/s of the home, the processing fees, and any back taxes, and existing liens. The payment must be cashier's check or cash payable within 24 hours from the winning bid/sale. There usually is no home inspection allowed before bidding, or termite inspection. You do not get to walk around the interior of the home and check it out before you buy it. The buyer buys AS IS. The foreclosure may have sustained damages from angry tenants/ex-owners who moved out. With a Realtor-listed home, the home is open to inspections. The price is negotiable; in this market, you will most likely have more say in the negotiating process as a buyer. Loans can be arranged to purchase the home, no cash/cashier's check required upon acceptance of the offer. You will have an agent/Realtor guide you through the legal process, and negotiate on your behalf, should you choose to have an agent. You can make an offer lower than what is listed; a good Realtor will help you determine a good starting point, and negotiate successfully on your behalf. It is worth your while to go for a listed house; there are many unforeseens that are best left to the professionals when bidding on a foreclosure. Good luck on your purchase :)

What is the minimum age before you can invest in stocks?

I have enough money to invest and I know what I want to invest in but I'm still a minor.

you can be any age if you have a parent/ guardian sign for you. talk to a CPA. its their job. because you are a minor, i would shy away from stocks and lean more towards mutual funds. diversity is a good thing.

How come companies buy smaller companies for a price well above the stock price?

How come companies agree to deals where they buy an openly traded company for an agreed upon amount per share way above what the stock is currently trading at? Why don;t they just buy all the shares on the open market?

Because there are only a few hundred (or maybe a few thousand) shares at a time being traded at the price you see. No where near enough to get a controlling interest. If they started buying on the open market, they would gobble up all the shares available at that price and then the price would start to rise. How high would it rise as buying continues? Nobody knows! So the think they are better off negotiating a set premium over market and then they know what it's going to cost them.

After paying up back rent my friend still received an eviction notice, what are his rights?

A friend of mine received an eviction notice for unpaid rent. The notice stated that things could be resolved if he paid the back rent, the current months rent, and all attorney’s fees. My friend paid this to the sum total of $1900.00 (the back rent he owed was only $625). Two days later he received a notice from the landlord that he still had to vacate the unit. Does my friend have any rights in this matter?

That depends, on whether he was telling you the whole truth, or not. He may have caused a lot of damage to the apartment, or broke one of the other rules in the lease. It's hard to say … unless one has all the facts. I'm pretty sure the landlord wouldn't evict him, without just reason.

What’s the difference between financial advice and money advice?

Financial advice would involve advice on life, income, trauma &TPD insurance as well as government benefits that you would be entitled for as well as tax planning & is ongoing.

Money advice is what your buddy or the butcher tells you to do with Absolutely no substance.
